If you’re trying to learn English—or any language—then in today’s world, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be a great blessing. It helps you practice English according to your level. However, it’s very important to understand how to use prompt engineering effectively. Many people don’t actually learn from AI; instead, they just use it to write emails or other daily communications.

To learn through AI, you must first tell it what level of English you speak or write. One way to do this is by mentioning your academic background, such as: “I’m at Grade 8 level according to the Pakistani curriculum” or “I’ve completed my Master’s degree.” Also share your field of work and the nature of your job. You can provide all of this in Urdu.

Once you give AI a short introduction, ask it to send vocabulary words suitable for your daily life. The important thing here is that AI will not send you unnecessary vocabulary. There are millions of words in a dictionary, and an average person can’t memorize all of them. In school, we often learned many words just because they were part of a story’s text—even though they had no use in our daily lives.

After vocabulary, the next challenge is sentence construction. Take the vocabulary words you received and try writing any simple sentence—even if it’s broken or incorrect. Think of how a child speaks without hesitation and says whatever comes to mind. Do the same. But at the same time, ask AI to point out mistakes in your sentences.

This repeated correction will bring great improvement over time. There was a time when English learners would regularly visit educated people just to get their essays or writings checked for mistakes—so they could avoid repeating them. Now, AI is doing this work for you, and for free.
